...aloha...

I'm going to Hawai'i in a week and a half! My mom randomly called the other day and asked if I wanted to go...uhm, YEAH!!! I haven't been since living there for a summer (all be it on a different island) so it's about time. Hopefully I can meet up with some UH people...too bad Mara went back to be with the Kiwis and Mo went back to be with the cows.

back in the stone age

No knitting in forever. I brought the never ending sweater on my trip home, but it's on metal needles, so I couldn't knit on the plane. Sorry.

But I do have some cool new stone tools! I'm in a lithic analysis class and our next paper (due monday...oops) is super cool. The prof made us each 2 stone tools and we had to hack something up (something they had back in the day) and then write about the wear on the tool. I hacked up corn. We were supposed to look under a special magnifying glass, but being the lazy girl that I am I used the one on my eyeglass repair kit instead of trying to go out and find/buy one. So now just the paper left. And then an exam tuesday. And class wednesday. And spring break.

So, Lisa and I are watching CSI:NY being boring. She points to a dark spot on the wall and says, "What do you think that is? It keeps getting darker..." Of course we must investigate...

It's a hole about the size of a baby carrot. A fuzzy hole. A hole with a squirrel in it!

For the past few weeks there's been scratchy noises, but I assumed it was the neighbors doing something. No. A squirrel!

For Boxing Day (I had to work on Christmas...) my sister gave me Knitting With Balls, a book her friend wrote for guy knitters and those who want to knit for guys. My guy is pretty simple, a few knit hats and he's pleased as punch, so I decided to make something for me. Since I had such success with the baby sweater I thought, why not?, so I'm having a go at a full sized one. And it's taking forever....
I'm using Blue Sky Alpacas melange color 805, so hopefully no mistakes (or this will be one pricey screw up!).

I'll keep everyone updated.

baby bolero in the deep blue sea...

No posts in awhile...but no knitting in awhile! Only a scarf kit from the sis and a hat for the boy. But then I found out my friend's adopting...hello opportunity! So I made him some goodies for the kiddie...

I've never made a sweater before, but after seeing this baby bolero I decided to make the leap. How totally cute is it?!?! It's from One Skein, and true to it's word it took only one (even less...so I still had some for a little hat). He goes back home on Tuesday, but today was my last shift with him at work so I wrapped it up and brought it in the morning. I also packed in the little elephant I made with some mini-skeins (there's a pic in an earlier post) since all it was doing was sitting on my bookshelf.

I just got some catnip from a hoity toity Park Ave. pet store (I needed an excuse to go in and look at all the kittens and puppies...), but I have no cats nor do I know anyone with cats. So two things, anyone know any good cat toy patterns?, and if you have cats do you want some cat toys? Just lemme know...

The elephant on the left is the one who started the collection, a hand-knit gift from my sister.

Then I got some mini-skeins and decided to do the koala from knitty, but I made it a trunk and big ears and voila....an elephant!

And finally my tres cool SP got me a Ty elephant...and 3 makes a collection, right?

Well, I've been kicked out of SP! And.....I'm on the don't-let-them-come-back list! Very upsetting. My internet was down and I didn't really have a need to head online, so I just waited till it was back on to check my e-mail. Mistake! Oh well. I enjoyed it. My SP is (was?) super nice and sent nice gifts. My giftee was hard to shop for, but I think I did good, and I was about to send my last gift on tuesday. I'm sad :(
