busy weekend

Friday was a crazy busy day. We were supposed to meet our new langlord for a walk through at 12:30, so at 11ish I headed to the post office to mail my secret pal her gift. I then get a call from Lisa saying nevermind! The landlord changed her mind and made it at 1:30 instead, so my day of errands was semi-ruined. I came back home and sat on hold with the Pitt Alumni people to try to consolodate my loans. I didn't get through before I had to leave for the train. Get to the walk through, and it went fine. Then off to UPS to get some mail...

It wasn't there. Now on the website it said it was there, but in person it wasn't. They sent it back because it had no apartment number on it (and I wouldn't put it past them to have missed the apartment number after I saw their disorganization). I waited for an hour and a half to hear this news. Then I couldn't find the bus home. The street it dropped me off on was one way, so I ended up walking forever and finally found it. No busses came. They had a sign with the times it was supposed to be there, and 2 designated times passed by. Finally, after another hour, it came. Ugh.

Then working all weekend, woo!

Today I was supposed to work at 10...and woke up at 11. So I called work in a frenzy and James was like, "Isn't Wanda here for you today?" Yesterday she asked for my number incase she wanted to work for me this number. She must have called, and me in my dazed halkf asleepness turned off my alarms, call when I looked all the alarms were off. I hate when I do that. Anyways, good for me cause now I just work the night shift which means making the same amount of money, but not being crabby since I'm working a shift I actually like with people I actually like. Plus now I ge tto call and try to consolodate again.

one in a million

OOOH...

I got a black sheep tape measurer thing at the yarn store too...go me!

busy bee

For a day that seemed like it would be based in bed, I've been quite productive...

Chris drove me to the subway on his was to work at 6:30 am. It was a weekday, meaning that the B was running express, WOO! But no, there was a switch problem so the B was running local just like the Q, so I hopped on the Q and headed to Manhattan. By the time I got to Union Square thought I was gonna pass out. So instead of getting on the L to head back to Brooklyn I went up and walked around the streets for a little bit. Then I got a bagel, coffee, and Metro and read the paper and munched in the park. I was finally awake enough to head home.

Then I was too antsy to nap so I diddled around online looking for volunteer stuff. Applied to a bunch and then hit the hay.

Then I headed over to get some lunch and watched the World Cup in spanish whilst eating. The I got my dad a bunch of junk food to send to my dad for Father's Day since my mom only feeds him healthy stuff and he grew up on Mirical Whip, chips, and Velveeta cheese. I hit up the post office to mail that and asked about my package that never came. There it was, so I got 2 for the price of 1 at the post office!

The home to call for apartments. No answers, but I left messages. And the a treat...the yarn store! I got all sorts of goodies for myself and my secret pal. On the way home I ran into a girl I went to high school with which was random since I didn't realize she lived near me.

And now home and knitting some candy wrapper sachets from "One Skein" to add to the secret pal package.

secret pal package

I got my 1st secret pal package!!! I went to the post office to mail my dad a Father's Day gift and decided to ask about it, assuming it wouldn't be there. But there it was, all battered and bruised looking like a 3 legged dog at the pound hoping to be adopted. And it was lovely. Some purple tweed, 2 hand knit washcloths, and some honeysuckle votive candles. Yum. So far no second gift even though it was supposed to be here tomorrow. Hmm...

In less happy news, I didn't get the JetBlue job. So no stewardessing for me. Oh well. It's probably good news, since I only have a year of grad school left. Still sad.

Can I offer you a drink?

I'm excited about the flight attendant job. I probably won't get it, but it was a good experience to have none the less. The only "interview" part of our interview was when they took 12 of us in a room and asked us a question. One question, 12 people, no prescribed order, and 5 people listening. I went kinda in the middle of the group. Other than that; fingerprints, pee test, reaching for a line 6'3" up on a wall, sitting in a jump seat, ice breaker, and Q&A. I'll know by monday...good luck me! If I do get it I have to decide between that and school.

Scarf

So the sock is still missing. No clue where it is. I started a scarf with my Frogtree cotton silk blend during "Just My Luck" (ahh the joys of babysitting) but it looked all weird so I completely ripped it out. I wanna do something with that yarn, but I can't find a pattern online. The one I started was my own creation and it turned out quite bad.
